Fourth Grade Aggies

By: Tanya Brooks

The fourth grade class traveled to the 4-H grounds in WaKeeney on Oct. 8. They learned about agricultural interests on their “Ag Day” field trip. The fourth grade class is studying animal life science which connects with their experiences on their trip.

Mrs. Brooks, the fourth grade teacher took her class to learn more about how to take matters into their own hands on the farm. Some of the stations that the fourth grade class experienced during the day included pulling a calf out of a simulator, learning how water forms in layers, gaining crop education, and more. The calf simulator was the classes’ overall favorite.

“I had fun pulling the calf out of the simulator. I thought it was cool to see how a calf is born. Someday I hope I can do it for real,” added an excited Fabian Mungaray.

Blaine Hildahl commented, “It was so cool to pull a calf out of a mother cow simulator.”

Jaden Ricker explained, “I have never been to an Ag Day, but it was fun.”

“The Ag Day was exciting and I had an awesome time. I learned a bunch of new things. My favorite part was the soy candy that we got to eat, it was yummy!” Zayne Beckner declared.

In addition to learning about agriculture and animal life science, the fourth grade students have been learning about government, tall tales, and multiplication with unknown variables.

In addition to regular classroom instruction, they enjoy celebration cheers.  When a member of the class does something well, Mrs. Brooks leads the class in a variety of cheers to celebrate.  Another class favorite is Officer Rummel and his gang resistance and bullying presentation, and Mrs. Valerie Kuchera’s presentation over the five senses.
