QJH Opens Season at Home.

The Quinter Junior High Volleyball Team took on the Dighton Hornets at home on Thursday, August 6 for their home opener. The Bulldogs went 1-2 for the night as the B-team earned the win.

In the first set of the A-team game the Bulldogs started the set out with the serve. The Bulldogs and Hornets exchanged the first points back and forth. The Hornets took the ball and went on a 10 point run to leave the score 12-4. As the set went on the Bulldogs and the Hornets fought for points until the Hornets held the Bulldogs to 16 points. The Hornets won the set 25-16. In the second set of the A-team game the Bulldogs and Hornets exchanged points until the Hornets served seven points against the Bulldogs’ defense leaving the score 14-11. The Bulldogs went on to score two more points against the Hornets. However, the Hornets held the Bulldogs to scoring 13 points, winning the set 25-13.

“I feel like as a team we really improved in all areas from our performance last week,” commented Kennedy Werth.

In the first set of the B-team game the Bulldogs and the Hornets fought back and forth for points. The Bulldogs went on a four point run to tie the score late at 19-19. The Bulldogs and Hornets fought for points until the Hornets took the ball and won the set 25-23. In the second set the Bulldogs stayed neck and neck with the Hornets until they gained the lead. After losing the serve, the Bulldogs used a six point run to win 25-16. Coming into the third set the Bulldogs took a lead and went on a nine point serving run. Then the Hornets took the ball and tied it up again. The Bulldogs battled back and won 15-13, winning the match 2-0.

During the first set of the C-team match, the Hornets and Bulldogs stayed close in points. The Bulldogs used a seven point serving run, then continued to push their lead to a 25-10 victory. In the second set the Bulldogs trailed early before using another seven point run to win the set 25-16.

The Bulldogs return to the court on Thursday, September 6 in Hoxie as they take on the Indians. The first match begins at 4:30 p.m.
