Bulldogs Gear Up to Kick Off New Season

By: Blake Selensky

The Quinter High School boys’ football team is ready to start the season off with 22 players out for the 2018 football season. The Bulldogs have 14 returning players from last year's season, and will be welcoming eight new players to their team for the season.

The theme driving this team this year is ‘One.’ This theme pushes them to focus on the little things that will allow them to be successful. They are focusing on one game, one play, one rep, one yard, one inch, and one team.

“I expect the team to improve through hard work. I’m looking forward to having more depth on the roster so we can have two teams in practice and develop everyone. Also, the depth will allow us to rotate players during games and keep them as fresh as possible,” commented head coach Mr. Micah Roehl.

Throughout the summer, the boys have made it into the weight room, and to optional conditioning which has helped them get stronger and faster for the upcoming season. Following their summer workout, the team started the season out with walk through practices in the morning, and hitting practices in the evening.

“I’m excited to see what this season has in store for us, and I’m also excited about the number of players,” commented senior Conner Havlas.

Both coaches are looking forward to having four seniors on the field, and look forward to seeing how their leadership influences the younger players. They are also looking forward to what the seniors can do on the field.

The Bulldogs first kickoff of the season will be on Friday, August 31 at home against the Decatur Community Red Devils. Kickoff starts at 7:00 p.m.
