The Quinter girls basketball teams defeated their opponent, the Ellis Railroaders, on Tuesday, January 29.

The varsity team defeated the Railers, who they previously lost to in the Castle Rock Classic Tournament. At the start of the game, Quinter outscored the Railers 15-6. Quinter still continued to score off of Ellis’ defense by adding another 15 points before the half. At the sound of the buzzer, Quinter led 30-10. After half time, Ellis stepped up their offense and began chipping away at Quinter’s lead. The Railers put up 30 points in the second half to Quinter’s 18. The Bulldogs came out victorious with a final score of 48-40.  Kayler Getz led in points with a season’s best of 18, followed by Evie Gruenbacher with 14. Gruenbacher also shot 75% at the free throw line, while Getz grabbed 12 rebounds.

In the two quarters of junior varsity against the Railers, Quinter outscored Ellis and won 17-12. In the first quarter, Ava Gillespie led the team in scoring with five points and six points in the second. Chalea Kvasnicka followed with three points, going 3-4 at the freethrow line.

“We worked hard in both quarters and I’m happy that we were able to add another win to our record,” commented Kvasnicka.

Quinter will take on the Golden Plains Bulldogs on Thursday, February 14. Games will begin at 6:00.
